Continuing its commitment to affordable telephone service for Floridians, the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) is partnering with the Florida Housing Authority to kick off this year’s “National Lifeline Awareness Week” on Thursday, September 5, in Tallahassee.
PSC Chairman Ronald A. Brisé, Senator Bill Montford, Representative Alan Williams, Tallahassee Mayor John Marks, Leon County Commissioner Nick Maddox, AARP Associate State Director Charles Milsted, Public Counsel J.R. Kelly, and Tallahassee Housing Authority Executive Director Brenda Williams will speak at the event. Telecommunications Companies will be on hand to help eligible residents apply for the program. The Federal Lifeline Assistance telephone discount program helps Florida’s residents stay connected with job opportunities, as well as businesses and community services.

The Federal Communications Commission, the National Association of Regulated Utility Commissioners, and the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates are supporting this year’s “National Lifeline Awareness Week,” September 9-15.
