Continuing to highlight partners who help the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) raise public awareness about the Lifeline Assistance program and energy and water conservation, this month the Commission recognizes the L. Claudia Allen Senior Center in Orlando as a PSC Helping Hand.
“I want to thank and commend Gloria Sears and the L. Claudia Allen Senior Center for consistently hosting community meetings that help us teach Orlando-area seniors strategies to lower their utility bills,” said PSC Chairman Art Graham. “Central Florida low-income seniors can benefit from the PSC’s outreach messages, and we appreciate Gloria’s help in reaching them.”
Begun last year, each month the PSC highlights an agency or organization whose clientele are eligible for the federal Lifeline Assistance telephone discount program and/or needs help curbing their energy and water bills. Through these PSC Helping Hands partnerships, the Commission shares vital information to help consumers stretch their pocketbooks and meet their monthly bills.
“The L. Claudia Allen Senior Center is pleased to be named a PSC Helping Hand,” said Gloria Sears, Supervisor of the Seniors First Neighborhood Lunch Program. “Our PSC partnership provides ongoing support for the Center’s visitors that they can use every day to impact their overall quality of life.”
