The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) will conduct a need determination hearing on Monday for a proposed Florida Power & Light (FPL) electrical power plant in Glades County, Florida.
This hearing provides the utility, other interested parties, and the public the opportunity to present evidence and testimony concerning the need for the proposed plant. As part of the need determination process, the PSC must consider the need for electric system reliability and integrity, the need for adequate electricity at a reasonable cost, the need for fuel diversity and supply reliability, and whether the proposed plant expansions are the most cost-effective alternatives available.
Only issues relating to the need for the proposed power plant will be addressed at this hearing. All members of the public who wish to offer testimony should be present at the beginning of the hearing set for the following time and location:
Monday, April 16, 2007
Betty Easley Conference Center
Joseph P. Cresse Hearing Room (Room 148)
4075 Esplanade Way
The PSC is committed to making sure that Florida's consumers receive their electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater services in a safe, affordable, and reliable manner. The PSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in the areas of rate base/economic regulation; competitive market oversight; and monitoring of safety, reliability, and service.
