The five-member Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a Special Agenda Conference on Friday, January 29, 2010, to consider a staff recommendation addressing rates for Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) customers.
On January 13, the Commission reduced FPL’s return on equity from its requested 12.5 percent to 10 percent as a midpoint to set rates. The last time FPL's base rates were changed in conjunction with a full rate case was 1985. Prior adjustments to FPL's base rates in years since 1985 were the result of rate case settlements and other limited scope proceedings.
FPL is the largest electric provider in Florida, serving more than 4.5 million customers.
The Special Agenda Conference is scheduled for the following time and location:
Friday, January 29, 2010
Betty Easley Conference Center
Joseph P. Cresse Hearing Room (Room 148)
4075 Esplanade Way
The meeting is available online at www.floridapsc.com by selecting “Commission Calendar” on the top right of the Web page.
The PSC is committed to making sure that Florida's consumers receive their electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater services in a safe, affordable, and reliable manner. The PSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in the areas of rate base/economic regulation; competitive market oversight; and monitoring of safety, reliability, and service.
