Highlighting October’s Energy Action Month, Commissioners and senior staff from the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) will participate in a locally-sponsored Big Bend Habitat for Humanity (BBHH) “build” on Friday, October 19.
Each year, the U.S. Department of Energy sponsors Energy Action Month to promote smart energy choices, while also highlighting economic and job growth, protection of our environment, and increased energy independence.
The PSC observes this month annually with events to promote energy efficiency and conservation. This year, the Commission is assisting BBHH whose mission is to build energy-efficient, affordable homes for low-income consumers in the community. BBHH has also expanded beyond traditional homebuilding to acquire and rehabilitate vacant/foreclosed housing stock and provide critical home repairs and weatherization for existing homeowners including returning veterans.
The BBHH build is scheduled for the following time and location:
Friday, October 19, 2012
7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
1621 Harris Street (off of Orange Avenue)
PSC Chairman Ronald A. Brisé will be on-site at 2:00 p.m.
